Non-living objects are also INTELLIGENT

For the last few months I've been taking about 8 tabs in the morning,  two at noon and 3 at bedtime, for Hyper-Tension ('BP') and some other health problems. Some of  these tabs are a millimetre or slightly more in dia. Occasionally they fall down from my palm and roll away on the floor and go and hide in some corner. In the process of searching for them, the other day, my thoughts took flight... Why are these tiny tabs rolling away in odd directions and hiding at unexpected places?

Obviously they are obeying  physical laws of motion Nature is dictating to them.   How do they KNOW the laws of motion? How are they able to DO the complex COMPUTATIONS, that too in real time,  required to know in which direction and with what velocity to move after impact? How do they know that they have no option but to OBEY Nature?

(This is the case also with planetary motion around the Sun and obviously about the phenomena in the entire macro Universe  of huge galaxies and the micro Universe at sub-atomic level. )

What we refer to here as 'Nature' is an entity that has set the laws for all happenings in this Universe. I wonder whether it is not sheer hypocrisy when we claim to be on a higher pedestal of LOGIC & RATIONALITY of Science as compared to Theists who claim the existence of a so-called GOD who dictates these so-called laws of NATURE?

Seeing such behaviour I tend to hypothesise that all INANIMATE objects have INTELLIGENCE embedded in them to do the above jobs. This is the same with animate objects too i.e.living beings. The only difference is that the latter have another form of intelligence as well, as we all know,  that allow them to perform many many other complex tasks.

One could further hypothesise as follows.. The intelligence that helps inanimate objects to 'Memorise' Natural Laws and 'Commands', to 'Compute' their trajectory in REAL TIME as well as  to 'Obey' them can be viewed as 'HARD-WIRED' intelligence because there is no question of deviating from this behaviour whatever be the provocation.

In living beings obviously there exists IN ADDITION another type of  intelligence which we may differentiate as 'SOFTWARE' intelligence,  which enables them to take voluntary decisions and act accordingly (of course in subservience to the Natural Laws which take precedence). The afore-mentioned 'hardwired intelligence' is not just about laws of motion alone but about every other natural process as well. For example,  about a chemical reaction, when two objects of different material compositions come in contact a chemical reaction may happen and the materials that constitute the objects may undergo an irreversible transformation, again as dictated by Nature.

So my limited conclusion as a result of the flight of my thoughts narrated above is the following..INTELLIGENCE IS ALL-PERVADING ( which idea perhaps supports the Theistic Philosophy of the universal presence of a GOD overseeing the working of the entire Universe,  which they claim that HE created)  in the Universe while LIFE is confined to a miniscule fraction of objects existing in the Universe (again  according to a mysterious 'plan' of Nature).

The conventional Intelligence that we refer to in the case of living beings may be called, as suggested earlier, as 'SOFTWARE'  Intelligence in view of the fact that,  in contrast,  it doesn't operate on COMMAND of Nature  to obey its laws but is capable of analysing a situation and take actions as desired by the living entity to meet its needs as though under the control of a Software Program.

Such an intelligence could be attributed  to an organic part of the living being which we call 'Brain' where the Software is stored. The brain interacts with events that occur in the world through the  'senses',  categorises them and tries to draw a pattern. It memorises a huge number of these events,  and the larger such data the more precise is the ability of the brain to draw an accurate pattern. It is able to 'predict' events based on such patterns. The Software is more and more complex and comprehensive depending on where the living being is on the evolutionary ladder. E.g. an amoeba vs. a human being.... And so on.

Further search about the distinction between the the two kinds of Intelligence compels us to come out with a definition of LIFE which needs far far deeper introspection, which is being postponed to a future convenient occasion....

Greenery of Vegetation in Nature

It's great fun observing Nature and to try and learn Her ways in establishing  equilibrium amongst the living/ nonliving entities of Her creation.

It was the first time that this phenomenon of GREENERY of the entire plant family struck me (not from an aesthetic angle which I'd enjoyed  all my life like most and felt grateful to Nature) but the 'WHY?' and 'HOW?' of it.

Why are the leaves of most trees and plants green?

Biologists will tell us that green colour signals the presence of 'chlorophyll ' which helps the trees/ plants DIGEST their food with the help of sunlight and also in the process absorb carbon dioxide from atmosphere and produce carbohydrates for its growth  and in return exhale fresh oxygen into the atmosphere and let other life forms to get their share of oxygen and thrive. A wonderful way of promoting most of animal LIFE which craves for oxygen.

My enquiry is different.

Green colour means that the leaves THROW AWAY the GREEN of the VIBGYOR set of colours of the sunlight. The rest of the colours are absorbed by the leaves. Why do the leaves choose to discard particularly green colour. Why not any other colour? (There are of course rarely some plants which do that )....I simply have no answer.

Look at the process of a leaf aging and ultimately falling off. When it is formed it is tender and light Violet in colour, then it turns Indigo. We don't practically see Blue colour, it almost skips Blue stage or perhaps briefly skims over it to become Green and stays so for a long time, maybe months, then turns Yellow, stays so for some time, then Orange, then turns Red in some trees ( the last two phases more explicit in, perhaps,  cold climes/ higher latitudes) or turns Brown (before falling off, particularly in hot climes) which is a combination of Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. So the colours that the foliage throws away is progressively VIBGYOR !!! Why in that order which is precisely that of the colours in sunlight...What do the leaves/plants/trees benefit in the whole process?.... I've no answer.

Why do the leaves choose different durations to discard the various colours with maximum time for Green. Are the durations as a percentage of the entire life span of a leaf characteristic of the specific category of the tree?... I do not know.

Nor do I see an answer in the literature.
